Michel d'anastasio - artiste peintre calligraphe

Véritable aboutissement d'une recherche à travers la matière et la forme, les calligraphies de Michel d'Anastasio traduisent toute l'importance qu’il confère au signe et à sa signification intrinsèque.
Grâce à la précision du geste naturel, le signe se libère dans sa confrontation au contraste des couleurs et à la puissance des formes, stabilisateurs spatiaux de ces œuvres intemporelles.
Après avoir concrétisé son rêve maltais au travers de ses deux expositions de 2005, Michel s'attèle à présent à un nouveau projet : ouvrir son art à la calligraphie hébraïque. Il s'agit encore une fois de rendre hommage à la branche maternelle de sa famille, juive séfarade chassée d’Espagne en 1492 avant de s’installer sur l’île de Gozo (archipel Maltais).
Ce nouveau projet remonte à août 2004, lors d'un voyage en Israël. À son retour, Michel est tout à la fois bouleversé et comblé par l’amour d’un peuple à l’histoire faite de tradition, d’attachement à sa terre, de souffrances et de fierté.
Michel admire depuis longtemps la lettre hébraïque carrée. Lors de son voyage en Israël, son appréhension de la calligraphie hébraïque va encore plus loin : il découvre la lettre cursive, plus vivante, plus libre et plus moderne. L'admiration initiale se meut en une évidente et farouche volonté : maitriser les contours de l’alphabet hébraïque pour mieux le moderniser à sa guise, comme il l’avait fait auparavant avec l’alphabet latin.
Il commence donc à étudier seul et très assidûment, à raison de plusieurs heures par semaine… Les lettres sont agréables à travailler et Michel ressent les émotions artistiques de ses débuts. Un nouveau monde s’ouvre à lui, avec toute une nouvelle palette de formes et de signes.
Aujourd’hui, Michel prend des cours d’hébreu pour s’imprégner plus encore de cette culture fascinante et pour ressentir plus profondément la signification du signe à naître sous ses doigts.

Through his works, Michel D’anastasio shows firstly his generous feelings and his enthusiasm to share at the same time as the intimate need to belong to this maltese culture and its ancestors.
In 2005, having realized his childhood Maltese dream of holding two artistic exhibitions in Paris, Michel D'Anastasio decided to direct his creative energy toward Hebraic Calligraphic Art.
Michel had long admired the squarish Hebrew letter. His journey to Hebraic Calligarphy also pays direct homage to Michel's familial roots, Sephardic Jews expelled from Spain in 1492 who found refuge and home for generations on Gozo, in the Maltese Archipelago.
Michel's interest in Hebraic Calligraphy was re-triggered by an inspiring trip to Israel in 2004. During Michel's trip, Michel found that his appreciation of Hebrew calligraphy grew and this initial admiration provided inspiration, leading to a journey of artistic renewal and enlightenment.
On his return to Paris and inspired by the trip, Michel began to learn and experiment with Hebrew Calligraphic works. He discovered in the Hebrew letters qualities of both vitality and liberation.
By constant study and attention to the calligraphy, Michel first mastered the contours of the Hebrew alphabet and then experimented with modernizing it. This diligent study and awareness bought about an artistic expression that released a new oeuvre of artistic work; a universe created by a fresh palate of forms and signs. Michel has since produced works which he feels artistically far surpass his past work with the Latin alphabet.
Today, Michel D'Anastasio continues to work from Paris, immersing himself in the fascinating culture and history and traditions of the Hebrew alphabet. His work brings light and meaning to the shapes and forms created by his handiwork.

לאחר שהגשים את חלומו המלטזי בהצגת 2 תערוכות בפריז ב-2005, מישל משקיע כעת את מרצו בפרוייקט חדש: פתיחת אמנותו לקליגרפיה העברית. זהו מעין הומאז' למשפחת אמו, אשר התיישבה באי גוזו (הארכיפלג המלטזי) לאחר גירוש יהודי ספרד ב-1492.

הפרוייקט התחדש באוגוסט, 2004, הודות לביקור של מישל בישראל. בשובו חש מישל נסער ומלא הערכה בעת ובעונה אחת, לאהבת העם את ההסטוריה שלו, המורכבת .ממסורת, קשר לאדמה, סבל וגאווה

מישל מעריץ מזה זמן רב את האות העברית המרובעת דרך עבודתו של הקליגרף העברי פרנק ללו. מאז ביקורו בישראל, הבנתו את הקליגרפיה העברית העמיקה: הוא גילה את אותיות הכתיב, החיות, משוחררות ומודרניות יותר. הערצתו הראשונית הפכה לרצון עז לשלוט במתאר האלפבית ולהפכו למודרני יותר, בסגנונו שלו, כפי שעשה בעבר עם .האלפאבית הלטיני

הוא החל ללמוד לבד ובנחישות, שעות רבות בשבוע... ומצא הנאה בעבודה עם האותיות ותחושה של התעלות אמנותית. עולם חדש נפתח בפניו, בעל פלטה חדשה של צורות .וסימנים

כיום מישל לומד עברית, על מנת לטבול יותר לעומקה של התרבות המרתקת הזו ולהבין .לעומקה את משמעות הסימנים שנוצרים תחת ידיו
